Can I file a lawsuit for Nursing Home Abuse on behalf of My Loved One?

Absolutely. If you perceive that your loved one is the victim of nursing home abuse or neglect, you can certainly take action and file a lawsuit on behalf of your family member. We help daughters, sons, granddaughters, grandsons, cousins, brothers, sisters, mothers, fathers and spouses do this every day.
How do we do it? We work with your loved one to make you their designated legal representative so that you can be their advocate in court. If your loved one is deceased, we can open an estate in probate court and allow you to pursue a lawsuit on behalf of your family member’s estate.
Nursing home abuse and neglect cases are traditionally “family affairs” where a group of family members will seek to protect their loved one (i.e. mom, dad, grandma or grandpa). We pride ourselves on working together with the entire family to achieve justice for the victims of nursing home abuse and neglect.
We are also nursing home advocates, which makes us different from other law practices.  When we are retained to protect the rights of a nursing home resident, we also make sure to alert the proper authorities about abuse or neglect.  We also work with nursing home rights advocacy groups to raise awareness of nursing home abuse and neglect in Illinois.  We are truly committed to making a difference in the lives of nursing home residents.
